Despite previous 3D attempts with the Nintendo 3DS and the LG Optimus 3D it is said that the new NEO3DO Android tablet is in a whole different league. The tablet is part of the Android family and will be hitting the market next year with a 3D touch display. NEO3DO features a features an 8” 1280 x 768 resolution glasses free 3D touch display, 1GB of RAM, a front (0.3 Megapixel) and rear (2.0 Megapixel) camera, a gravity acceleration sensor and Wi-Fi connection. Also built within the device will be 2D to 3D conversation software that will provide 30% pop out and 70% depth.
3D focus reports that the screen will use lenticular LCD technology to support the 3D capabilities and will be able to support 3D video formats JPEG 3D and MPO. With these formats it will allow users to watch 3D YouTube videos without any glasses. David Briggs of the 3D Film Connection thinks that what separates the 3DS and Optimus is that, “they are small and are not optimized for 3D content consumption. The 8″ size is enjoyable for movies, games, interactive education and is also a killer 2D Android tablet!”
The product is set to launch January 2nd, 2013 and will come equipped with 3D content and the ability to stream 3D content. It’s also set at a good looking price of just $262 with international shipping an option.
